Who is a Good Candidate for Cosmetic Injectable Treatment?

Cosmetic injectable treatments are non-surgical. They often provide an option for both men and women who may not be candidates for more invasive facial enhancement procedures. They can also be ideal treatments for those who simply want to avoid the inconvenience of extended recovery periods, as well as for patients who may not need plastic surgery to attain their specific goals.

If you would like to enhance volume in facial features such as the lips, cheeks, or around the eyes, injectable treatments may be the ideal solution. Cosmetic injectables can also be highly beneficial for fine lines, wrinkles, and creases appearing in a variety of facial areas. Some options can even soften the appearance of mild acne scars and skin depressions.

Some tips for optimizing your result include the following:

1) If you bruise easily, consider avoiding blood thinners two weeks prior to your injection. Blood thinners include aspirin, ibuprofen, aleve, green tea, and fish oils.

2) Consider taking a homeopathic medication called Arnica. Arnica may help with bruising and swelling. Arnica is available over-the-counter. We generally advise the sublingual form starting seven days prior to your injection.

3) If you are preparing for an important event (wedding, graduation, gala), give yourself at least three to four weeks of recovery time. Ideally, we should see you six months ahead of time to determine a good plan.

Good candidates for injectable procedures should have realistic expectations for results and should also be in good general health. Dr. Jess Prischmann will evaluate your needs during the initial consultation and talk with you about whether these treatment options are the best way forward. Cosmetic injectable procedures are customized to each patient’s individual goals to ensure the best possible results.
