How Can I Repair My Gauged Earlobes?

repaired-earlobesThe first blog in Dr. Jess Prischmann’s two-part blog series on gauged ears, “Are Gauged Ears Sabotaging Employment Opportunities?”, discussed how gauged earlobes may ultimately cause a variety of problems – especially during the job searching process. If you are no longer happy with your gauged earlobes, you do not have to experience the negative attention associated with your ears any longer.

The process for repairing gauges is very different from repairing torn earlobes. Because gauged ears are so stretched, the earlobe must be both shortened and reconstructed. This involves removing the excessively stretched skin and reconstructing the earlobe to give it a more natural shape. The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes per ear.

Gauged earlobe repair is usually performed right here in our office under local anesthesia. Over time, the scars from the procedure should fade very nicely, and the ears should be able to be re-pierced eventually.
